Rally driver loses steering wheel...
...and keeps on going regardless! Another point that proves how tremendously big some rally driver's cojones must be.
Fighting a tail happy Ligier-Honda prototype at Long Beach
The Long Beach Grand Prix is on this weekend with a couple of classes racing, the IMSA P2 cars are one of them and they can be quite a handful between the concrete barriers. Ozz Negri's lightweight Ligier JS P2-Honda of the MIchael Shank Racing team is powered by a twin-turbo V6 and in practice it really didn't want to put the power down. The result: snap oversteer while accelerating out of almost every corner and constantly needing to catch the car and keep it from smashing into a concrete wall. We have some of the on-board footage right here!
Marquez takes the pole and the lap record in the final minutes of qualifying
Marc Marquez was qualifying for the MotoGP race at Circuit of the Americas a few days ago and by the end of the session he was running in seventh position.
He noticed the bike was developing an engine problem and subsequently parked it up against the pitwall (no really, he parked it, no crashing, we promise!).
He then jumped over the wall, sprinted to his backup bike in true Le Mans-style and flew that out of the pitlane completely unfazed with three minutes of qualifying left for him to do his out-lap and one timed lap, just enough time to make one last difference if all went well. And it did, he not only manages to grab the pole but also shatter the previous lap record also held by him and as you can see for yourself, this is unreal bike control. Entering corners under full braking with massive oversteer or the rear wheel just plain up in the air, damn this guy can ride! The videos at "Read More" show him parking the bike and the record setting lap.
Road Racing Tribute: Ulster GP
Still 173 miles per hour while already gently tipping the bike into the upcoming right hander, a split second to shave off a little speed, cross the slippery white line and find the grip to take you through the corner. This is road racing at it's finest. The Isle of Man is one of the last places on earth where this can be done legally, and Ulster GP in Belfast, Ireland is another one.
Mental Polish M3 driver refuses to give in to Hayabusa, GSX-R and R1
A trio of superbikes including a Suzuki GSX-R, a Yamaha R1 and a Suzuki Hayabusa encounter a Bmw M3 driver that is not about to let them outrun his German V8. It all gets out of hand soon and the driver has reportedly been arrested after uploading this footage of their mad dash through Warsaw, ignoring red lights, stop signs and cutting through traffic like knife through butter. Judging by his Facebook his license plate probably didn't help his case either, "S2 YBKI" refers to "szybki" which is the Polish word for "Fast".
V8 Supercars' Bush Brothers: Rick and Todd Kelly
V8 Supercars' drivers Rick and Todd have been competing at everything for as long as they can remember. Since they are brothers that has been going on quite a while now, so over the years the tools to settle these arguments have gone from dirtbikes all the way up to V8 Supercars. This 10 minute video by GoPro of an outback lifestyle combined with a racing lifestyle is worth checking out!
Jon Olsson takes his Rebellion out to play...
...on a ski slope! And he doesn't drive down it, that would be too easy. He's taking his own Le Mans Prototype-inspired batshit-insane creation up it. Check it out...
How to quickly degrease a Honda Civic's engine bay / front clip
At Velociworx, we're all about crazy schemes, so when one of our partners in insanity suggested showing us an unorthodox way of degreasing his engine bay we watched carefully. Here's what our resident lunatic did after spraying some brake cleaner!
The magic of Spa-Francorchamps
Spa-Francorchamps, a fast and long track winding it's way through the dense Ardennes forests. Favorite of many drivers and racing enthusiasts worldwide for it's combination of long straights, high speed corners, elevation changes and stunning scenery.
Back in 2012 when Bernie and the FIA where endangering the Spa Grand Prix's future, a tribute video was made as a form of protest.
Remembering Senna and Roland: The Last Teammate
Autodromo Internazionale Enzo e Dino Ferrari, Imola, Italy. Around this time in 1994 Roland Ratzenberger had already lost his life when his damaged front wing gave way at around 315 kilometers an hour, heading towards Villeneuve corner right behind the vicious Tamburello corner. Tamburello would claim Ayrton Senna Da Silva's life the next day. The following recently filmed documentary takes us into the minds of Jack Brabham and Damon Hill, their last teammates.
